About ArtesMiami

Artes Miami is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting Hispanic artists and cultural initiatives and organizations, primarily in South Florida. Its president, Aida Levitan, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized advertising and public relations expert who founded what became the number one Hispanic advertising agency in the U.S. She also founded Hispanic Events, Inc. (later renamed ArtesMiami) in 1995 in order to organize The Fair of Seville in Miami, which attracted 10,000 consumers. In 1997 it produced and promoted The Fair of Spain in Miami, which received $300,000 in free advertising and coverage from local media, and attracted 40,000 consumers during its four days at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center. Since 1997 Hispanic Events initiated Artes Miami, a program dedicated to funding and/or providing in-kind marketing and PR services to cultural organizations and artists. During the last few years, it has provided marketing and public relations support and/or funding to: the Perez Art Museum Miami, the Spanish Cultural Center (CCE), Foryoucansee Theater, the International Hispanic Theater Festival, Latin Jazz USA, the Cuban Museum, the Cuban Heritage Collection, the Smithsonian Latino Center, the National Museum of the American Latino Friends and The Vizcayans, among many others. Artes Miami works in collaboration with South Florida cultural leaders and institutions to publicize and/or sponsor cultural and theater events, art exhibitions, concerts, and poetry readings. Its publishing division, Editorial Ultramar, has published collections of poems by Hispanic authors (both in Spanish and English), books by individual poets and its "best seller", Hialeah Haikus. Nat Chediak to win the 2015 ArtesMiami Lydia Cabrera Award

Nat Chediak, world cinema expert, award-winning music producer and author, will receive the ArtesMiami Lydia Cabrera Award on Friday, July 24th, at 12:30 p.m. at Fleming’s Restaurant in Coral Gables, Florida. A winner of Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, Chediak founded the Miami Film Festival and made it one of the most successful film festivals in the world. He also produced El Arte del Sabor, which won the Grammy and Latin Grammy, as well as Lágrimas Negras, with Fernando Trueba (winner of the Oscar). The release sold more than one million copies. He is the co-author of the lyrices to the theme of Chico & Rita, the 2012 Oscar nominee for Best Animated Film. Chediak currently serves as director of programming at the Coral Gables Art Cinema.

The event is co-presented by Biltmore Parc and U.S. Century Bank with ArtesMiami, Inc. Internationally renowned writer Carlos Alberto Montaner and President of ArtesMiami Dr. Aida Levitan will introduce Mr. Chediak.

Community, Culture, Charity was the theme surrounding the 10th annual charity luncheon honoring 12 Latinas and a Latina Pioneer in from Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County that took place on Friday, August 12th at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.  Bank of America in partnership with Latina Style Magazine, the nation’s leading magazine for Hispanic women, were sponsors once again.  Co-sponsoring was Nielsen, the world’s leading provider of marketing information, audience measurement, and business media products and services.  Continue reading
